Leave your safari vehicle behind and explore Lake Mburo National Park on a horse!
Head to the Mihingo Lodge’s stables where beautiful horses and ponies await you for a unique safari in the park. Put your helmet on, get on the horse the team has chosen for you and let the adventure begin!
During this four-hour safari on horseback, you explore the grassy Warukiri range of hills in the middle of the park. High on the Wakuri Ridge, you enjoy stunning 360-degree views of the surrounding hills and valleys and admire wildlife at the waterhole on the furthest hill. A magnificent view of nine of the twelve lakes surrounding the park awaits you, as well as magical encounters with warthogs, topis, impalas, duikers, bushbucks, waterbucks and zebras. And if you are lucky, you can spot more timid animals, such as elands, buffaloes, and even leopards! This activity offers an unparalleled way to experience the beauty and tranquillity of Lake Mburo National Park without any disturbing engine noises.
Rides are adjusted according to your riding ability, allowing beginner riders to walk, while more experienced riders can trot or gallop through the vast stretches of grassy savannah. Two experienced guides go along with the rides that include six participants. The lodge provides helmets and riding chaps and it’s best to wear long trousers and good shoes. Please note that the horses can carry a maximum weight of 85kg.
