Rhino trekking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Today you visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, which is located close to Murchison Falls National Park in central Uganda. Here, you will go white rhino trekking for 1,5 to 2,5 hours.

Before heading off, you will get a safety briefing from a well-trained ranger, as it is his job to know how rhinos behave and ensure everyone’s safety. He will instruct you how to act close to these beautiful giants.
You then follow him on foot through the bush in this nearly 70 square kilometre territory. It’s a conservation area where rhinos are bred and protected, and it has grown from 6 southern white rhinos in 2006 to 34 in 2023. As such, it’s the only place in Uganda where you can meet these amazing creatures. During the trek, you can admire the rhinos in their natural habitat and learn about Ziwa’s conservation efforts.
As the place is wide, you might need to drive to the areas where the rhinos can be found before continuing the trek on foot. Also, wear closed shoes and long pants, and carry drinking water, insect repellent and, of course, your camera to keep unforgettable memories!
