Embark on an exhilarating morning adventure to Kyambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Embark on an exhilarating morning adventure to Kyambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
This half-day trek takes you through the stunning Kyambura Gorge, also known as the Valley of Apes.
To avoid the strongest hours of sunshine, you set off in the early morning. As you then venture into the gorge, you find yourself surrounded by the lush greenery of a tropical rainforest, which runs along the banks of the Kyambura River, and the impressive sight of the gorge’s steep walls. The gorge spans a length of 11 kilometres. The special thing about this trek is that you can see all sorts of wildlife, varying from snakes to various bird and monkey species, including baboons and… chimpanzees! Your guide will do everything in his or her power to find the chimpanzees, but it is good to know that the chance of spotting them is about 50% because the gorge only harbours 80 of them. Therefore, enjoy the walk itself, as it is one of the most extraordinary walks you can take in the heart of Uganda’s wilderness. And if you are lucky enough to find the chimps, you get to spend a whole hour in their company.
Please note that the minimum age to participate in this tour is 12 years.
