Nairobi, a fascinating city with a population of over 4 million people and several nicknames: Safari Capital of the World, Green City Under the Sun, or even Nairobery.
Kenya’s capital is the 4th largest city on the African continent and the only city in the world directly bordering a national park (Nairobi National Park). As it is also close to many other national parks and reserves, it’s the perfect starting point for many safari adventures. It is also known as an unsafe city with a big slum and areas you want to avoid as a tourist, hence the nickname Nairobery. In this city tour, however, we take you to the safest part of town, which does justice to its third name: Green City Under the Sun.
As a city Nairobi is a little over a hundred years old, which is relatively new to European standards. This is a city bustling with energy, with many great hotels, good quality restaurants and an energizing nightlife. As such, the city has several architectural landmarks that make for interesting visit. In this city tour you meet your guide in Uhuru Park, a beautiful park in the middle of town which is popular with the growing skating community of Nairobi. From here you walk to some of the city’s monuments, such as the parliament building, the McMillan Library, the National Archives and the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC). Here, you go up on the rooftop on the 28th floor to enjoy an amazing view over the energizing city. After this, it’s optional to go on to the fascinating Maasai Market, where you get a first impression of this beautiful tribe and where you can do some awesome souvenir shopping.
The tour takes three to four hours and the price includes all entry fees and a lunch that gives you a taste of the local food and vibes. A great way to spend your day in this energizing city and get a first feel of African life!
