The Leisure Golf Club is part of the Leisure Lodge Beach & Golf on the shores of Diani Beach. At first glance this is a golf course like many others; spacious, green and with a lake in the middle. But in Kenya you play your round underneath the coconut trees, while several species of monkeys take a peek at your skills. Tropical birds like cormorants, silvery-cheeked hornbills and kingfishers welcome you at the pond (hole 15), and of course the temperatures might be a bit higher than you are used to.
Being in Kenya also gives a slightly different dress code, since it’s not done here to show too much leg or arm (for both men and women). Out of respect of the culture and customs of the country the Leisure Golf Club maintains an extended dresscode, in which it’s not allowed to wear tight clothing, tanktops, spaghetti tops, plunge necklines or to show midriffs. Also shorts have to cover at least two-thirds of the thigh and cannot be too tight.
The par 72, 6084-meter course has 85 bunkers and the aforementioned large lake which makes a game here exciting and challenging. Caddies, lessons and golf equipment are for hire and a bar and restaurant await you in between rounds.
